My Netbook Reflection

Netbook Reflection

Hi my name Suliasi, and I go Panmure Bridge School and I'm a year 7 student. I just started using a netbook in November of 2011.

The positive things about using a netbook is that it is easier to research and there are a lot of websites that help you learn like studyladder and the blogs help you view what other students are learning about in the cluster.

The negatives of a netbook is that you could download music and games and people could be on the wrong sites and chatting to random people online and what everyone hates, a slow connection.

The interesting thing about netbooks is that you will never run out of information and knowledge and it is great source of information around the world.

A Boy's head

A Boy’s head

In there is willy wonka and his oompa loompa
and a project
for doing away with making caramel

And there is a
microwave
which shall be first

And there is
an entirely new chocolate
an entirely new brand
an entirely new name

there is a stairway
to a factory

there is another day of school

there is anti-nucular

And can not be controlled

I believe
that only cannot contain
is a head

There is much promise
in the circumstance
that so many people have heads.

Day and Night

Day and Night

Day: In the day adults play touch and children swing on the monkey bars on a fun filled day at the park.

Night: In the night dogs bark and cats scanning the ground for scraps in the quiet dull night at the park

This is just to say

This is just to say

I have taken
the book
off the
top shelf.

And which
you were probably
looking forward to
reading.

Forgive me
it was full of action,
and so exciting to read
and funny.

Tui Report

TUI

The tui are a native icon to New Zealand.  They are a well known bird that has black feathers and a white puff under the chin.

A tui is able to be found throughout New Zealand and also be found in some offshore islands.  They like to live in a offshore area is because there are a lot of insects and nectar and forest scrub they also fly to a normal area to feed themselves and they like open areas like country and gardens.

Tuis like to eat berries and lots of fruit but they also like insects and nectar.  Their young are usually fed little bits of nectar and small insects.  Just a little older tuis are fed on spiders, berries, moths and large amounts of insects.

Tuis like to sing first thing in the morning and they sing a wide range of notes it sound like bells, croaks, coughs and squeaks.

Tuis take two weeks for the eggs to hatch, parents move to offshore islands in November and December, the nesting season. Tuis lay 2 to 4 eggs at a time.

I asked the little boy who cannot see

I asked the little boy who cannot see

I asked the little boy who cannot  see
‘‘And what is colour like?’’
‘‘Green,’’ said he
“Is like the soft long grass in the forest
The water running down your face on a rainy day that is blue.
Red is smooth like the petals on a rose
And pink is like the taste of bubble gum I chew.
Yellow is like the the beams of light shining through your window every morning.
Black is the rough edges on a rock
And white is like a cloud soft as a thousand pillows”

My School Holiday Extravaganza

A week before school finished I got on a plane to Australia, it was fun just watching movies and playing games with my brother Pote and my sister Fine.  When we landed in Australia I could still feel the plane bouncing up and down in my head but I had a good feeling about this holiday when we got picked up from the Sydney airport by my Uncle Keliti.

When we got to my Uncle's apartment, my brother fell in love with my Uncles PS3 console straight away. We played Wii sport, I ended up beating my brother, sister and both of my uncles, then my uncle brought me lunch. We had chicken schnitzel sandwiches. Later on we went for a cruise around Sydney with my uncle. We saw The Sydney Oprah House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. That was only one day down, imagine a whole 8 days of fun and excitement.

The next day we went for a swim in the indoor swimming pools. We broke the rules by running and jumping in the pool and we even had a game tag but my favourite part was when I stepped in a hot spa pool. It was so hot! For lunch homemade chips and salad which was DELICIOUS! Before we went to sleep we went to the movies and watched 21 Jump Street and I was told off for making so much noise they had to give me warning. I would rate the movie 9/10

On Wednesday we were still thinking of the movie and how much action there was and all that my sister wanted to do was to forget about it because she doesn't like action and shooting. That day we went to the Sydney Markets, it's the size of Sylvia park so there was a large variety of shops. I bought me a hat and a wrist-band and a necklace.

On Thursday and Friday we did the same thing and just stayed home and enjoyed each others company and just playing PS3 and eating Fish'n'Chips for Breakfast, Lunch  and Dinner.

When Saturday came we had a great time at another Market but in Bankstown but the most exciting part was Lunch time and we had Thai food it was the first time that I ever ate a  rabbit and peanut sauce with ice tea. When we got back we went to see my uncle's boss Beverly McLaughlin, she gave my Uncle a giant basket of huge Easter eggs.We had a Easter egg hunt and I could just smell all the Easter eggs while I was walking past. My highlight was when my Uncle dropped an egg and when I went to go pick up the egg I got soaked with water. When we got up to the apartment my uncle was laughing at me.

On the hottest day of the week, Sunday, we went to the beach and made sand castles. I got buried in the sand and had a long swim. While I was in the water my brother Pote kicked sand in my mouth and then I had to chase him around the beach. My sister came out of nowhere and tackled him into the sand. My big Uncle jumped on me and then I was screaming HELP! HELP! But I was just joking and then I jumped on him. When we were done we had to get ready really fast because we were supposed to be at the Airport in 2 hours ago.. When we got to New Zealand we all wanted to go back so that was the end of my favourite school holiday.

I Know Someone Who Can

I know someone who can throw a chip in the air and rebound it off his head into his big fat mouth
I know someone who can
kick a ball and curve it into the goal.
I know someone who can
jump off a building into a pool.
I know someone who can
balance a book on his head and can do his 12 times tables.
I know someone who can
jump from one car to another.
I know someone who can
type amazingly fast.
I know someone who can
run around my house 39 times in under 20 minutes.
I know someone who can
swim really quick.
I know someone who can
eat a whole burger in one huge bite.
I know someone who can put 9 spoons around his face.
I know someone who can
find anything on the internet.
I know someone who can
draw really cool patterns
and that someone is
Me!

The only Kiwi there

When I arrived in Australia I felt like an individual because I was the only Kiwi there. I felt nervous and shy I felt like running out of the Airport felling home sick!I flew over alone from Auckland to Sydney.

As I left the airport with my uncle I looked outside the window and found out we were on the Sydney harbour, I was surprised, it looked so different to New Zealand because you could actually drive a double-decker train over the harbour bridge. As you drive over the harbour you can see the amazing Sydney Opera house, it looks really big when you drive past.

I stayed at the Breakfree Hotel with my Uncle in Bankstown. I went up the elevator to the 4th floor were my Uncle lives, I looked out on the balcony and the first thing I saw was very bright lights everywhere and then I started feeling at home. We were playing on his playstation 3 until we got tired and then we turned his couch into a king bed just for me but then we both fell  asleep fast.

Next morning we got ready to go to Luna Park. We went on almost everything and man, it was funny when he nearly threw me into the water!
After that I went to watch Author with Russel Grant .
Each morning I ran down to the cafe for the all you could eat buffet breakfast, I had sausages, eggs, bacon and on the side some Weet-bix
and some Orange juice.

I saw some old family members that I hadn’t seen since I was 3 or 4 years old, I felt like a stranger cause I don’t know them as much as family in New Zealand.
I had such a good time in one week I wanted to stay in Australia!

Will I ever go back? YES! I’m going in April with my little brother & little sister!
